Bistecca e Pane is the brainchild of Daniel Fazzina. Daniel has been in the catering industry for 20 years, born in London, raised and influenced between the rolling Tuscan hills and the capitals bustling city streets.
Daniel finally galvanised his recent venture after years of reliving a culinary discovery which despite his best efforts, he couldn’t forget. Ten years ago Daniel was taken to a simple but exceptional hole in the wall in the quiet back streets of Florence by a knowledgeable family friend. He was faced with a queue which reached around the cobbled corner and past the Basilica, of patiently waiting Florentine’s looking for the best Porchetta sandwich in the city. He would later wash this down with a plastic cup of Chianti of course. After inching forward in anticipation, he finally reached the kiosk and the flavour of the extraordinary fennel infused meat and toasted Italian roll, he encountered blew him away!
Over his years spent in the restaurant industry, Daniel has been toying with the idea of taking beautiful, home-grown, Tuscan wood fired roasted meat sandwiches to the British market which will sit next to wonderful regional salads, distinctive pastas and Italian breakfast pastries.
Daniel has been cooking with his Florentine Father and Grandmother throughout his life and later moved into the London cocktail scene during its explosion 15 years ago, where he was able to explore his creative take on the this area of the industry. After managing some of the most exclusive and exciting restaurants in London, Daniel finally turned his hand to the world of Private Cheffing five years ago. Here he had the opportunity to travel the globe cooking outstanding Mediterranean dishes for the world’s elite including Sylvester Stallone, Alec Baldwin, Bob Geldof and many more including royalty.
Daniel’s intention is to open stalls in popular fast paced London markets in order to gain necessary recognition alongside continuing to cater for private parties and events. Daniel eventually plans on making the move to a permanent site which will have its own wood fired oven behind a long Italian oak topped bar to eat and drink at and a few individually sourced tables to serve his rustic Tuscan street food all day and into the night. The space will have an intimate but atmospheric and informal, industrial feel with a traditional ambience, filled with the aroma of bistecca e pane.
Daniel is currently looking for innovative investors to share in his dream.
